| Planned Pethood is a non-profit all-volunteer organization that raises funds to assist with spay and neuter services for companion cats and dogs. Our organization works with a local veterinary clinic to ensure that the inability to pay does not prevent a guardian from having their companion cat or dog spayed or neutered.
We also work with those members of the community who are caretakers of feral cat colonies to encourage and support them with the spaying or neutering of each feral cat in their colony. The trap, neuter, and release method (TNR) is the method that we support in order to accomplish reduction in the feral cat population in our community. Funds for spay and neuter services are raised through an on-going series of events and fund raising endeavors using our volunteer members. Members pay a small annual fee and are able to be active or inactive based on their preference. |

History:
Our organization was originally formed in May of 2001 as a support group to raise funds to spay and neuter cats and dogs adopted from the Yuma County Humane Society. In 2003, we applied for and received non-profit status. At that time we began to help income-eligible members of our community with the spaying and neutering of their companion cats and dogs. We have a six member Board of Directors and nearly fifty volunteer members. The Board of Directors meet on the fourth thursday of each month at the Foothills Library at 5:30 pm. There is a General Meeting held the first Saturday of each month (July is dark) at the Yuma Community Food Bank at 9:00 am. We encourage everyone to try to attend one of our General Meetings.
| Planned Pethood does not capture or transport animals to be spayed or neutered. Humane traps are available (with a deposit) at the Humane Society of Yuma. Also, we do not accept animals for placement in new homes. |
